Great information was offered at our presentation by Florida Inclusion Network (FIN). Mrs. Karen D’Avignon provided us with the “Family Fact Folio” which consists of three folder size brochures, “What is inclusion”, “Speaking up”, and “Is your child’s school inclusive”. These brochures are a combination of parent friendly ESE definitions and examples of good practices to model.
Also, included was a sheet on communication tips, thankfully. I have
an uncanny knack to say the wrong thing in the wrong way, especially
when I am feeling emotional.
Schools I am looking at for my daughter's transition are not 100% inclusive,
but the handout made me feel confident starting an “inclusive
practices”, conversation with teachers or the school system.FIN
is a gold mine of information.
