Newsletter
Our Newsletter is an important part of AUWDI’s foundation
of service and has five basic goals:
1. Publish
news about health, development, education, work, leisure and advocacy issues
that affect the lives of our local Down syndrome community and
AUWDI.
2. Introduce
and connect our local Down syndrome community through articles
that celebrate
individuals’ accomplishments and promote the benefits and
fun of fellowship.
3. Acknowledge
endeavors, activities and services that are inclusive and/or benefit
our Down syndrome community.
4. Track
and publish an events calendar for our Down syndrome community.
5. Spread
the message of awareness, acceptance, and inclusion for all disabled
people in our community.
AUWDI welcomes stories
that celebrate the lives of local individuals of any age with Down
syndrome. We are interested in publishing stories about individuals
who have overcome a personal challenge. We’d like to see
stories that feature a person whose pursuit of a goal provided
a learning experience and/or realization of the joy in being one’s
personal best.
AUWDI
encourages local organizations, professionals and individuals to
submit written descriptions or articles outlining the services
or activities offered for possible publication in the newsletter.
If applicable, send event details for our calendar. We
would like to see stories about individuals whose efforts are exceptional
in the areas of education, inclusive practices or services in Bay County and the surrounding area.
Today,
individuals with Down syndrome are active participants in the educational,
vocational, social and recreational aspects of our communities.
In fact, there are more opportunities now for individuals with
Down syndrome to develop their abilities, discover their talents
and realize their dreams. As
the attitudes, inspirations and fellowship of our local Down syndrome
group grows, our community responds with support. Bay County is rich with growth, progress, diversity
and southern charm.
